A big part if the look of the car is the two tone paint. The blue on the lower half really pops and makes the car stand out, so it's important to get that color just right.
Problem is, nobody know what the paint code is for the blue. For the past several weeks I've been going back and forth with various people to try and identify the right color.
After much debate, I narrowed it down to two choices: 1981 GM Code 20, Bright Blue and 1982 GM Code 22, Bright Blue Poly. A forum member over on camaropacecars.com who has a low mileage pace car with original paint had a friend scan his paint with a PPG Paint Prophet II. The IR scan identified the blue as the 1981 Code 20. Another person who did a rotisserie restore on his car used the 1982 color and pictures of his car looked correct.
To settle it, I had my shop shoot paint cards of both colors. A scan of each card is below (your monitor calibration may affect what you see):

Turns out there is a huge difference in the two blues. The lighter color on the left is
the 1981 color and the one on the right is the 1982 color. I think you'll be
able to tell that one is way different than the other.
I compared both cards to my original front fascia paint (which was
pretty weathered) and the 1981 color is closer. Way Closer. So much
closer that I am going with the 1981 color.
For anyone repainting your pace car, use the 1981 GM Code 20 color. It's the one you want.
