Junk Yard Treasures

It's been a long time since I went to a yard in search of parts.  This morning my daughter and I headed to the local You Pick It yard this morning to try and find some interior panels.  The online inventory showed three Camaros: and '83, '86 and a '92.  I didn't think about searching for Firebirds, but there was an '89 Formula there too.  Since it was the 4th of July, everything was also 50% off.

Unfortunately, the yard's insurance wouldn't let my daughter on the lot because she is too young.  So as soon as I got there I had to turn around and take her home.  She was not happy because she really wanted to help me.

Fortunately, once I got back I did pretty well.  A few hours in the hot sun and the '92 had donated its gray spare tire cover, the '83 donated its dark blue right rear passenger lower seat belt panel and the '86 donated a carmine red left rear passenger lower seat belt panel and the entire left side sail panel.

All for $15, including tax.  You can't beat that.

Word to the wise - aside from your tools, make sure you take a wagon to haul your loot and a lot of water.  When I left the yard, it was 103'.

I still need the passenger side sail panel and the hatch panel with the cavity for the rear wiper motor.
