Off to paint!

The flatbed from Executive Towing showed up this morning at 8:00 AM sharp to load up the car and haul it over to Steve and his team over at BodyWorks Custom.  It was a weird seeing the car up on the truck because once this work is done, it's a major step toward putting the car back together.

The guys at BodyWorks do top notch work.  They will clean up and paint the engine compartment, weld in my new battery tray, knock all of the dents and dings out, paint the car and apply the pace car decals.

All told, they expect the job to take about 8 - 12 weeks.  They take a ton of pictures as they do their work and I hope to get and post those here.

So far, it looks like I may need to replace the nose and lower spoiler.  There are stress cracks in the nose and the spoiler has huge gouges in it, so they are concerned that trying to fix that may not work and that after it's painted the paint may lift and show the imperfections in the body parts.  I tend to agree as my '84 Z28 had similar cracks in the rear bumper from impacts and the paint definitely lifted and revealed the cracks.

I've also received my interior paint from BAPS last week.  I need to get some adhesion promoter and pre-paint cleaner to start prepping the interior panels.
