I finally had a chance to take a look at the PUI interiors reproduction door panels from Classic tonight.
Overall, they are very well done and are good quality. I am extremely thankful PUI took the time and effort to offer them.
My originals weren't bad but weren't great either. I decided it was not going to be worth the effort to pay a shop to redo them. After some soul searching, the PUI repros got the call.
I am not disappointed but do want to point out couple of very minor differences from the originals in case someone else out there needs to know.
First, the lower carpet is the wrong pile. It should be a short cut, weave but it's more, well, flat. The color is correct so in reality, nobody will really notice but me.
Second, there is horizontal blue, vinyl trim piping that runs the length of the door below the door handle assembly. On the original panel, this piping is dark blue like the interior panels and the carpet. On the reproduction panels, the piping is more teal. It almost looks like the Bright Blue GM Code 20 color on the Case of the Blues page. It's not a big deal, but it's not correct either. I may mask it off and paint it using the interior paint BAPS mixed for me.
Other than those two things, the panels dead knock offs of the originals.
